No Win, No Fee Agreements
LEGAL AID BACKGROUND INFORMATION - In the past many people were eligible for Legal Aid. Following recent changes, the Legal Services Commission now runs Public Funding for Civil Schemes and the effect of this has been to substantially reduce the scope of Public Funding and the chances of getting a case to Court. Where state assistance does still apply most people fail means tests on asset and income grounds, i.e. a person is not sufficiently poor to qualify. Conversely, the cost of financing their case privately is out of the reach of many people, i.e. they do not have enough money to take the case to court. Also, State Funding will not usually be available for cases that could be financed by a Conditional Fee Agreement. Our Legal Services can help to overcome these problems.
NO WIN NO FEE AGREEMENTS & LEGAL
FEES - Where we accept and refer your case, we will ensure that the appointed solicitors arrange a
No Win, No Fee agreement, otherwise known as a Conditional Fee
Agreement, subject to conditions of which you will be fully
advised*.
We may have to read and consider many documents relevant
to your potential case and as this is a time consuming process so
we may ask a small fee, refundable to you if your case is
eventually successful, to cover this service. We must point out
that most solicitors can and do charge a considerable fee for
this service.
* Please be aware that No Win, No Fee Agreements are not available in respect of Criminal or Family Proceedings as the use of such agreements in such circumstances is prohibited by the Law Society.
