Access - Premium rate call barring may need to be removed to access this service, this can be done via your phone service provider.
Age - The service is only available to callers of 16 years of age or older.
Alternatives - It may be possible to obtain Free Legal Advice from a Local Solicitor if they run Free Law Surgeries or offer Free Initial Consultations or if you qualify for Legal Aid. Where advice needs individual interpretation, the caller should be advised that they should consult a suitably qualified practitioner. These services are intended to give general guidance on legal matters only and independent legal advice should be taken before any reliance is placed on the telephone advice given.
Billing - Calls may appear on your telephone bill.
Complaints - In the event of any problems or issues with the line, or if you have a complaint, please email us or telephone 0871 711 0051 or 52 between 12am and 6pm Monday to Friday. If you have a complaint, a copy of the telephone bill showing details of the call must be made available to us.
Connection - On connection to the service you will hear a short introductory message then be connected live to a solicitor. If the service is busy or it is out of hours you will hear a message saying so.
Cost -The dial up number is a premium rate number and you will be charged for the cost of the call at £1.50 per minute from BT Land lines, which may appear on your telephone bill. Calls from mobiles, call boxes and some other networks may cost more.
Insurance - We Have Full Professional Liability/Public Indemnity Insurance.
Length - The length of telephone call and the advice given will be determined by the LAB LTD and their advisors and termination of the call shall be in their absolute discretion but is usually no more than 20 mins.
Licence - The Telephone Legal Advice Service is run by the LAB LTD who have been granted a full ICSTIS license to operate the phone line and give telephone legal advice in the UK.
Monitoring - Calls may be recorded for monitoring and training purposes.
Personnel - The Line is operated in accordance with ICSTIS's Code of Practice & Guidelines and therefore is staffed by Fully Qualified & Experienced Solicitors with at least 3 years Post Qualifying Practicing Experience - in fact most of our solicitors have at least 10 years experience and our most Senior Solicitor has practised for over 30 years. As is the usual practice, all our solicitors are subject to the rules and regulations as set down by the Law Society and are answerable to the Law Society for their conduct and standard of work.
Responsibility - If you are not legally responsible for the charges incurred on the telephone line you use then please ensure you have the permission of that person before making the call.
